MARY (HDB-Approved)

Female
Local crossbreed
6-7 years old

More on Mary

Mary was rescued when her caretaker, Uncle Seng, lost his job when the factory he was at relocated. Read her rescue story here.

Of all Uncle Seng's pets, Mary was the one he worried most about since she was like his shadow, and very wary of strangers. She was so loyal to Uncle Seng that in the first few weeks of their separation, she refused to eat and starved herself half to death. Only when we brought Uncle Seng to visit her and hand feed her did she eat.

Mary has opened up to her fosterers but she is still very shy and wary of strangers. She takes some time to warm up to people but is very affectionate and loyal once she has come to trust someone. If she has opened up to someone, she would often come and sit beside them or sit in their lap, trying to be as close to them as physically possible. That is how affectionate she is.

Mary is very low energy and very calm once comfortable in your presence. She is currently being treated for tick fever but is very healthy otherwise. Give her some time and love and she will be the most loving companion anyone can ask for!

Looking for someone tall, dark and handsome? Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Cody isn't dark, but he is definitely tall and handsome!

Cody is a local crossbreed, approximately 2-3 years old. He is calm and of moderate energy. He can be a bit timid around people he does not know and is still getting used to human contact, but he is otherwise very sweet. Despite his wariness of people, he loves walks and adventures! He is outdoor trained and walks very well on leash. He does not tug or lag behind, but will let you set the pace and follow alongside you quietly.

Cody needs a patient owner who can help him overcome his shyness in his own time. If you would like to take this shy but dashing boy home, email hopedogrescue@singnet.com.sg.

Matthieu 240x240

MATTHIEU (under Project Adore)

Male (*Special needs Dog)
Local crossbreed
11 years old

More on Matthieu

Sterilised, Vaccinated
Able to walk short distances slowly)
Good with calm and older children
Good with dogs

Matthieu’s story touched, and broke, many hearts. His perseverance to survive was seen when he was injured and paralyzed from the waist down and yet survived by hiding under a lorry for two weeks before Mr Aziz informed us of his plight.
Since his rescue till now, everyone has been working hard to help Matthieu regain muscle tone in his hind legs. Matthieu requires many hydrotherapy  and acupuncture sessions to build up his muscles and stimulate his nerve sensations.  He can now walk on his own, unaided for a few minutes and that’s a true miracle.

Matthieu has suffered 10 long years, living his life as a stray, not knowing what tomorrow had in store for him. He doesn’t ask for much, just a garden to move about without hurting himself and a family to show him that his 10 years of waiting and struggling is finally over. Would you give Matthieu a home?

Vera 240x240

VERA (Not HDB-Approved)

Female
Local crossbreed
2 years old

More on Vera

Sterilized, Vaccinated & Microchipped
Sweet and docile
Love being patted and adores affection from human
Slight separation anxiety
Love walks and suntanning
Good with calm and older children
Good with dogs

I was found with two gaping holes on my leg, which explains why I'm wearing the pink bandage (and totally rocking the look). My wounds are healing well now and I am a very healthy lass with no other issues to concern myself (or the volunteers) over.

Some have said that I look like a police dog, well built and strong. Not just in looks, but I also have the intelligence and the endurance of a working dog. Do you like running early in the morning or at night? Not only will I be able to keep up with you, with me by your side, you can be sure I will keep you safe just by looking like a police dog. But don't be fooled by my looks. I am hardly as intimidating as a police dog. I am actually super friendly and affectionate. I'm more likely to attack people with kisses than with bites but shhhhh, don't tell anyone that! I am also super calm and walk really well on leash, if running is not your thing, and I adore kids.

I am looking for my furever home. If you would like a running buddy, who can double up as a nanny for your kids, I am up the dog for you! I am a healthy 22kg though, so am not HDB-approved. To hire me as your running buddy (and nanny), email hopedogrescue@singnet.com.sg.

Cassie 240x240

CASSIE (Not HDB-Approved)

Female
Local crossbreed
1.5 years old

More on Cassie

Sterilised, Vaccinated, Micro-chipped
Calm yet playful, obedient, pee pad / paper trained
Excellent with babies, children and dogs
Preference to be rehomed to a household with dogs

Found with a huge maggot wound around her neck, Cassie had been living her life in fear. She trembled whenever anyone even went close to her and dared not even sniff at the most tantalizing treats. Her external wound healed after 6 weeks, but emotionally, she was still a wreck. She never let her guard down and cowered when anyone even went close. When she is frozen in fear, she defecates and pees in fear.

After just 3 months of patience, Cassie is finally emerging from her cocoon. Cassie loves liver and treats, but not baths. She gets along well with other dogs and thrives in their presence. She takes comfort being with other dogs and should be rehomed to a household with dogs. She has no food aggression and enjoys human interaction. We are currently teaching her to walk on a leash and she is improving each day in leaps and bounds. Although it will take a while, we are confident Cassie will finally learn how to let her guard down and enjoy her life as only a dog can!

In her eyes, you will see sadness and worry. Will you erase it and put a smile on her cute little face?

Read her story here and watch Cassie here.

Harper 240x 240

HARPER (under Project Adore)

Female (*Special needs Dog)
Local crossbreed
2 years old

More on Harper

Born with a broken spine
Vaccinated
Moves about with her wheelchair, incontinent
Good with children
Good with dogs

Born with a severe handicap in her lower spine that cripples her from the waist down, six-week-old Harper was crawling on her chest and dragging her hind legs painfully over rough gravel when she was first spotted in a construction site on Jurong Island. It was so hard for her to search for food, that she had to swallow gravel and metal pins to alleviate the gnawing hunger in her stomach sometimes. Such was the hard life that baby Harper had.

Her fate changed for the better when Mr. Aziz, a kind Muslim man who worked in that area, brought her to HOPE’s attention. With the fosterers and volunteers’ love and patience, Harper is now a changed dog. She is much happier and clearly enjoys the new lease of life given to her. After the rescue, Harper went through two more unfortunate episodes that threatened to take her away from us – a chest infection due to the haze, and a blockage in her stomach, but she braved them all, valiantly and admirably, just like a warrior. Since then, her health condition has improved a lot, though she is still wobbly and unable to control her pee and poo. She has been attending regular hydrotherapy and acupuncture sessions to help build muscles and stimulate her nerves. She is now able to walk for a few minutes unaided.
She is a year old, and is a bundle of joy to all those who have had the good fortune to meet her. She is sweet-natured, fun-loving and as playful as can be. We hope to find someone who can give her a loving home and the proper care that she deserves. Would you be that someone?

Cheerful, little ray of sunshine
Good with children
Good with dogs and cats

Sunny is a fighter that manages to stay optimistic and happy despite having grappled with death and also having a plethora of health problems. Sunny was diagnosed with a curved spine; scarring on both eyes and dry eyes; an enlarged heart; a collapsed trachea; congestive heart failure, and a host of other health issues.

As such, Sunny cannot be left alone for more than a few hours at a time as we are afraid that he would choke while drinking water.

Other than that, Sunny is a cheerful, non-fussy little ray of sunshine sure to brighten up any home he is in! He is just looking for a loving and caring environment that will love and care for him throughout the rest of his life and to enjoy the warmth and love he deserves after living in the streets for so long.

Kimmy240x240

KIMMY (HDB-Approved)

Female
Local crossbreed
5-6 years old

More on Kimmy

Has heartworm and is currently undergoing treatment
Walks well on leash
Outdoor trained
Good with dogs
Good with children

Kimmy started her life roaming freely on a golf course, running across the grass happily and pretty much minding her own business. But her luck would soon run out as the golf club members probably found her to be an eyesore and a hindrance, and started to complain about her presence. Some workers resorted to building her a cage with the intention of locking her in there for good. Just like that, she lost her freedom and zest for life overnight. She suffered in that cage for 1 whole year before HOPE found out about her from a kind worker.
Despite all that, she does not seem to hold a grudge against humans and is very nice and affectionate towards them instead. She will do well in a house with older kids as her attitude towards young kids is still unknown at the moment.

Matilda 240x240

MATILDA (under Project Adore)

Female
Local crossbreed
1 year old

More on Matilda

Sterilised, vaccinated, microchipped
Pee pad trained
Affectionate, playful
Good with calm and older children
Good with dogs

Matilda had a rough start in life, living in a vacated factory that used to deal with heavy metals. She was picked up for a bloated tummy and was also later discovered to be suffering from lead poisoning.  She has now recovered and is very healthy, except for a slightly elevated level of lead in her blood as her body is slowly expelling it naturally.

Matilda has a unique brindle coat, and at 7 months old, already weighs 18kg. She is very sweet, playful, goofy and affectionate. She gets along well with children and other dogs. She is a food enthusiast and has an extremely healthy appetite! She is learning to walk on leash, but is easily startled by loud noises, so will require a patient family to help her gain confidence and be more assured around noise.

Will you open your heart and home to this gentle sweetheart?

blake240x240

BLAKE (not HDB-approved)

Male
Local crossbreed
2.5 year old

More on Blake

Sterilised, Vaccinated, Microchipped
Moderate energy, timid, slow to warm up, grass trained
Good with children
Good with most dogs (need to warm up to new dogs, not good with high-energy dogs)

An act of human cruelty, Blake was found with two huge fish hooks deeply embedded in his legs, causing his legs to swell from a severe infection. That was when he was 6 months old.

He has now been living with a home foster. Blake is extremely shy and timid, thus he is not coping well with the stress of being in a small shop with so many other dogs. He has lost a lot of weight and now has developed skin problems.

Blake is a gorgeous dog and extremely sweet natured. He will take time to trust but once he opens up, you can be assured he'll be your best friend for life!
